NDA Annual Supply Chain Debrief

We exhibited at the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority 2016 Annual Supply Chain Event last week.
It was great to catch up with some of our old friends and connections from the nuclear decommissioning industry, as well as forging new relationships with companies, we hadn’t had the chance to meet.  Many of the attendees at the NDA Supply Chain Event have attended previous TotalDECOM events, either as exhibitors, speakers, sponsors or delegates.  The NDA event, as always, proved invaluable and we hear it was the best attended event yet, attracting over 1500 delegates from across the world.
We were based on stand P8 and the TotalDECOM team attended in convoy and worked the exhibition hall to make sure we talked to as many people as possible about getting involved in our new format TotalDECOM 2017 event, which will be held next year at the Point, Emirates Old Trafford on the 27th, 28th and 29th march 2017.  It  was also important to us  to find out first hand what is happening in the industry.

To name a few, we managed to catch up with the National Nuclear Laboratory – confirmed Gold Sponsors for TotalDECOM 2017, who won the ‘Technology/Innovation Implementation Award’ alongside partners Westinghouse and its subsidiary Fauske and customer Sellafield Ltd.  A massive congratulations to the team for this achievement.

Our team had great conversations with the Nuclear Grads who plan to exhibit at our event and send a brigade of fresh new talent to our free visitor open day on day 2, which will focus on some specialists areas such as skills, recruitment, training and education within the decommissioning sector. Many industries, be it Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Process, Defence or Renewables, all face similar challenges when it comes to skills, training and acquiring and retaining personnel – part of Day 2 of TotalDECOM will focus on this.  We also caught up with our Platinum sponsor Aecom who have supported our event for 4 consecutive years.  We had discussions with Rovtech about exhibiting and touched base with our Silver sponsors Nuvia who will be speaking at our event on a very interesting decommissioning topic that will be announced imminently – look at our website for up to date information on our  large 2017 supply chain exhibition, conference, workshops and seminars

There was a free prize draw up for grabs on our stand for those who registered for our Free Open Visitor Day on Day 2 which was an upgrade to our Premier Delegate Package – the winner was Alex Scott, Commercial Manager of Mammoet, who are a prime example of an organisation who take their skills and expertise across multiple industries within the decommissioning sector. This year the whole team noticed a very distinct theme emerging, in that there was a significant increase in organisations working in the nuclear decommissioning supply chain wanting to tap into new markets. This is one of the very messages we have been trying to instil since year one of TotalDECOM back in 2014. Our conference and supply chain exhibition is geared around helping supply chains in each industry diversify and grow.  TotalDECOM 2017 will provide a rare opportunity for all levels of the supply chain to tap into their existing markets as well as diversifying into others – the decommissioning sector is growing at a rapid pace and many industries are facing similar problems. TotalDECOM is a great opportunity for organisations working in economically & politically volatile markets, to take their skills & expertise into new & exciting areas!

It was pleasing to see that one of the central themes of the NDA’s 2016 event was to explore  working with the supply chain, from the largest to the smallest players, to improve opportunities for involvement in decommissioning.

John Clarke, NDA CEO, at #DecommSupply Chain Event 2016
NDA Chief Executive, John Clarke, formally opened the #DecommSupply event, highlighting the importance of suppliers in providing skills and innovation to support decommissioning progress.
